Beach House - Norway

That dreamy feeling in every song and the strange layer of melody that made me put them on my iTunes heavy rotation playlist.

And the fact that i've booked a ticket for their show in Laneway Festival made me shiver and have a sudden euphoria.

listen to R.E.M - Discoverer

Well, whatever they do should be a must have for me. And the upcoming fifteen album "Collapse Into Now" are on my list to have on 2011.

With Accelerate we were trying to make a point by making the songs as short and as fast as possible … So we wanted this new one to be more expansive. We wanted to put more variety into it and not limit ourselves to any one type of song. There are some really slow, beautiful songs; there are some nice, mid-tempo ones; and then there are three or four rockers. - Mills

the rockers are Eddie Vedder, Patti Smith, and Peaches.

You can grab the first single "Discoverer" at the band's website.

Here’s the tracklist:
01 “Discoverer
02 “All The Best”
03 “Uberlin”
04 “Oh My Heart”
05 “It Happened Today” (feat. Eddie Vedder)
06 “Every Day Is Yours To Win”
07 “Mine Smell Like Honey”
08 “Walk It Back”
09 “Alligator Aviator Autopilot Antimatter” (feat. Peaches and Lenny Kaye)
10 “That Someone Is You”
11 “Me, Marlon Brando, Marlon Brando and I”
12 “Blue” (feat. Patti Smith)

Pitchfork premiered the first track from WIN WIN a couple of weeks ago, the slow pumping “RELEASERPM,” which features vocals from Gang Gang Dance’s Lizzie Bougatsos. “RELEASERPM” will also be released as a single on January 18th, with a Nadastrom remix as its b-side.

Gasoline Rainbows

is a compilation made for the gulf benefit, featuring brand new songs by Damien Rice and Amy Kuney, and also a bunch of great hits single for bands like Vampire Weekend, the Black Keys, LCD Soundsystem etc

press release.
When it comes to providing help to those in need, you can always count on musicians to do their part. To help communities impacted by the recent Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, some of today's hottest bands have joined together with Global Green USA to release a benefit compilation entitled Gasoline Rainbows, out todaythrough Roark Records. Gasoline Rainbows is available exclusively via iTunes as a digital download.

The compilation was brought together by actress Sophia Bush and actor Austin Nichols, most well known for their roles on the television show One Tree Hill. Sophia and Austin travelled, with Global Green, to Grand Isle, Louisiana, to visit the beaches and see the devastation wrought by the Deepwater Horizon spill first hand. Moved by the stretches of oil along the once-beautiful beaches, as well as the devastation to the wildlife, they decided to help in whatever way they could, and this compilation is a direct result of that.

100% of the artist and label proceeds from Gasoline Rainbows will be used for Global Green's oil spill response to directly assist the communities, people, and ecosystems impacted by the BP Oil Spill, educate the public, push for more regulation (to ensure a tragedy like this never happens again) and advocate for a greener, cleaner economy.

Gasoline Rainbows includes material by some of the most popular names in music, alongside new up-and-coming talents. The compilation includes music by LCD Soundsystem, Phoenix, Silversun Pickups, Vampire Weekend, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, amongst others.

Not only does the compilation feature incredible tracks by the aforementioned artists, but it alsol contains three brand new, previously unreleased tracks as well. Singer-songwriters Amy Kuney, Damien Rice and City and Colour will all be providing never before heard material for the compilation.

These new tracks are available for streaming from the Gasoline Rainbows myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/gasolinerainbowsbenefit

Sad Brad Smith

A few years ago this kind of music said to be old man's music, but later while the irony era emerges the term Folk Music can be a new word for coolness, and i don't mind as long as the band can provide good messages and nice music with the fresh air from the mountain like Sad Brad Smith.

Sad Brad Smith’s namesake immediately establishes this crafty songsmith as a tongue-in-cheek kind of guy. While his purposefully exaggerative lyrics maintain wistful melancholy while elbowing you in the side with a wink, there’s no denying the prowess and visceral candor in Smith’s simple indie folk aesthetic. Sad Brad Smith makes his home and cooks his meals in Chicago, though he spent some time in Hollywood recently penning music for the Oscar-nominated film Up In The Air (“Help Yourself”) before sculpting his independently-released debut Love Is Not What You Need – 12 observational, confessional, witty songs that exists somewhere between Jeff Mangum’s introspection and Adam Green’s playful yet more sincere repertoire.
